The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Legend Weekend in Westchester
October 2009, Legend Weekend at Washington Irving’s Sunnyside in Tarrytown, NY, and Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow, NY.
...the ghost of a Hessian trooper, whose head had been carried away by a cannon-ball, in some nameless battle during the Revolutionary War, ... rides forth ...in nightly quest of his head, (with) rushing speed, ...sometimes passes along the Hollow, like a midnight blast, ... in a hurry to get back to the churchyard before daybreak.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, haunting people ever since its publishing in 1818, is Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk’s signature tale. He began to transfix audiences with gripping presentations of Washington Irving’s classic in 1995. Performing right in Sleepy Hollow, New York, at Philipsburg Manor, Jonathan becomes Historic Hudson Valley’s specter-teller at their renowned "Legend Weekend".
His performances have become a legend in their own right. You’ll find Jonathan’s image representing Westchester in the phonebook!
