School Programs:
Finger Fables for Squiggly Squirmers
Tell young children stories and imaginations ignite, confidence grows, then literacy begins. What gets little ones to listen? I draw them in, fingers, faces and toes, with interactive fables. Together we create the story. Two fingers up, one thumb out and we have Aesop’s Rabbit and Turtle ready to race. Our straight arms help show how Spider got crooked legs. A little chant helps little ybear learn how to stop losing things. A smile makes the sun rise, the moon dance and a wolf sing!

Story Possibilities
Sunny Time Bunny - Is inspired by Margaret Wise Brown’s “Runaway Bunny” book. Little Bunny wants to play rather than nap, and meets with a dangerous fox. Children’s fingers become Bunny, arms become Grandmother Willow, and a funny fist is Grandfather Frog. There’s a Fox and Bunny game to follow up.
Wake Up Sun - An original tale, in need of a child’s ending. Little Clock can’t wake the Sun. She sings her wake up song twice too! The Sun sings he wants to be a “Sleepyhead, a lazy bones and he’s going to stay in bed!” The Cloud and Moon try to help Clock wake the Sun. The children will draw their own way to get the Sun out of bed.
Sleepy Snowy Squirrel - An original tale. Everyone is getting ready for Winter. Animals are making dens, birds fly south. Children gather cold weather clothes. Squirrel is the only one not preparing. He gets stuck searching Bear’s Den, Bird’s nest and Turtle’s shelf for a place to wait out Winter. The listeners have to help Squirrel in the end!
Lion & Mouse - an adaptation joining Aesop’s classic (with a touch of Androcles & the Lion plus Jonathan). Here children see a demonstration of the moral, you are never too small to help. They’ll enjoy acting out with their hands and voice, Zebra, Antelope, Rhino, Giraffe, Monkey and Snake.
